What is Linux?

Linux is an open-source operating system kernel created by Linus Torvalds in 1991. It is the foundation for a wide range of operating systems, commonly referred to as Linux distributions or "distros."

Can i game on Linux?

Is Linux safe?

Linux is generally considered safe and secure due to its user privilege management, package management system, open-source nature, diversity, built-in security features, and active community support.

Can i run Linux on my computer?

Yes. Linux is compatible with a wide range of hardware, including desktops, laptops, and even older systems. Lightweight distros like Mint can be great for repurposing old hardware that isn’t powerful enough to run Windows 11.

Is Linux right choice for me?

It depends. If you use Windows specific professional software then probably no. Some Windows only software can be run on Linux via compatibility layer without issues. Thankfully there are many alternatives to most popular software that can be useful.

Will I be able to use my existing Windows software?

Large portion of software supported on Windows is also available for Linux. There are also open-source alternatives for commonly used windows software.

Is Linux difficult to use?

In most cases no. Most distros have very familiar design similar to Windows or iOS, applications can be obtained from built in app stores or installed by simple command in terminal. There are many Linux forums and tutorials which can help you with everything.
